La musica delle Pipe Band Scozzesi è la nostra passione ed è con passione e professionalità che affrontiamo la musica. Vogliamo sentirci dire: "suonate come Scozzesi!"

Pipe MajorLa Cornamusa Scozzese è sempre stata una mia passione. Poi finalmente ho avuto la possibilità di studiarla e nel marzo 2009 ho ottenuto lo "Scottish Bagpipe Solo Performance: Bagpipes SCQF level 6". Adesso l'avventura si rinnova con la nascita della R&DPB. E' una Pipe Band giovanissima, ma dalle grandi potenzialità.

Pipe SergeantFaccio parte della banda da anche prima che nascesse concretamente, essendo allievo di Bad, il nostro P/M. Suono la cornamusa da qualche anno oramai ed ho vinto alcune gare del CLASP del Piping Centre di Glasgow. La passione per questo strumento nasce dal mio primo viaggio in Scozia, ma sento che è qualcosa che ho dentro fin dalla nascita. Il segreto per suonare bene? Avere dedizione e costanza, un buon maestro e una buona banda!

Piperla passione per la cornamusa non è iniziata dopo un viaggio o dopo un particolare evento; credo che ci sono cose che ti nascono da dentro e non sai il perchè. Allora basta assecondarle e dargli libero sfogo. Avanti col soffio e le note..... e tanto esercizio!!!!

PiperMusicista e conoscitore di diversi strumenti popolari italiani, mi sono avvicinato alla Cornamusa Scozzese da qualche anno ed ho scoperto uno strumento complesso ma affascinante, con una grande personalità e con un suono meraviglioso. Cerco di dare il mio contributo a questa Banda, e l'emozione si rinnova ad ogni performance.

PiperDurante i "classici" viaggi estivi in terre inglesi (Irlanda), mi sono innamorato del suono di quegli strumenti folkloristici tanto strani ai nostri occhi, primo fra tutti la cornamusa irlandese, Uilleann Pipes (o Union Pipes); ed è stata proprio quest'ultima a farmi entrare nel mondo della musica scoto-irlandese! Per uno sbaglio di valutazione (cioè sono stato consigliato male ed io, ignaro, ho dato retta!!!) ho cominciato a studiare la Cornamusa Scozzese (Great Highland Bagpipes) in quanto "propedeutica per imparare a suonare la cornamusa irlandese"! Niente di più sbagliato, ma non tutto il male viene per nuocere: mi sono innamorato anche del suono di questo strumento!

PiperSono il più giovane della Rome & District Pipe Band. Studio la cornamusa da tre anni circa. Mi sono appassionato a questo affascinante strumento durante un viaggio a Santiago di Compostela, dove giovani studenti universitari suonavano la GAITA (cornamusa galiziana) nelle piazze della città. Poi la passione è scoppiata in un viaggio ad Edimburgo, dove la giornata era scandita a suon di cornamusa... una meraviglia!

Concerti
La Banda è disponibile per Concerti e Manifestazioni duranti i quali verrà presentato un repertorio di brani classici nella tradizione delle Pipe Band Scozzesi. Marce in 3/4, 4/4 e 6/8 si alterneranno a Slow Air, Jigs, Hornpipes o Slow March. Non mancheranno momenti solistici, per ascoltare l'antica musica dei Clan, il Pibroch.
Lezioni/Concerto
Sono Lezioni/Concerto, rivolte alle Scuole Medie Inferiori e Superiori, per raccontare la storia e la tecnica della Cornamusa Scozzese e la sua musica. Verranno eseguiti brani e verrà presentato lo strumento. Se nella Scuola sono presenti ausili Audio/Video, verranno proiettati brevi filmati di solisti o Bande Scozzesi. E' prevista la presenza di due Piper della Banda.

La Banda organizza corsi di Cornamusa Scozzese. Iniziando con l'indispensabile Practice Chanter, l'allievo verrà guidato nello studio dello strumento. La cornamusa non è indispensabile all'inizio dello studio, la si potrà acquistare quando arrivati ad un livello di tecnica sufficiente per affrontare le Pipes. Gli insegnanti daranno tutte le indicazioni e i consigli per l'acquisto sia del Practice Chanter che della Cornamusa. La Banda infatti ha contatti con i maggiori costruttori scozzesi di cornamuse potendo quindi garantire un altissimo livello qualitativo degli strumenti.

Associazione culturale Musicale "R&DPB"
Nel dicembre 2013 la banda si è costituita in Associazione Culturale Musicale. di seguito un breve estratto del nostro Statuto.
"L'associazione non ha scopo di lucro.
L'Associazione Culturale "Rome and District Pipe Band" intende promuovere, attraverso le sue attività artistiche e didattiche, la cultura musicale Scozzese in tutti gli aspetti specificatamente legati allo strumento nazionale Scozzese, la Great Highland Bagpipe, alla Scottish Dance ed in genere alla musica popolare di questo paese.
L'Associazione ha intenzione di costituire una Pipe Band, Banda di Cornamuse e Tamburi Scozzese, che assumerà la stessa denominazione dell'Associazione "Rome and District Pipe Band", il cui regolamento sarà deciso dai soci che ne faranno parte.
Tra le attività che l'Associazione potrà svolgere e/o promuovere vi sono:
• Concerti, esibizioni e manifestazioni anche a carattere didattico.
• Attività didattica attraverso l'istituzione di corsi di Cornamusa e Tamburi Scozzesi (snare, tenor, bass).
• Seminari e Workshop anche in collaborazione con Istituzioni didattiche Scozzesi (National Piping Centre ed altri) e/o artisti.
• Collaborazioni con istituzioni culturali, concertistiche, teatrali Italiane e Europee."
